GOUTY ARTHRITIS

It started from a swollen joint in one of my fingers, moved to another finger , and now it’s in my big toe. According to Doctor Panny, I should search for "gouty arthritis" in the internet.

from http://bone-muscle.health-cares.net/gout.php

"Gout is probably one of the oldest recognized forms of arthritis it was described by Hippocrates who noted amongst other things that "eunuchs neither get gout nor grow bald". It is also described as the king of diseases and disease of Kings. Gout is much more common in men then women who as Hippocrates also pointed out, are rarely affected before the menopause. (Hey! I don’t belong to this group! I’m only turning 24 this year.) It would seem that gout tends to affect those with a more affluent life style. (Really?! I think I should get a job right after the board exams.) It has also been said that sufferers from gout are often of more than average intelligence. (Wow! I’m flattered!) Gout once was mistakenly thought to be a disease of the wealthy because it seemed to be caused by eating rich foods and by drinking too much alcohol. Although diet and excessive drinking do have something to do with gout, they are not the main cause of the disorder."

"Gout (old name: podagra) or gouty arthritis is a form of arthritis caused by the accumulation of uric acid crystals (due to hyperuricemia) in joints. It is an immensely painful disease, which in most cases affects only one joint, most commonly the big toe."

I should now be avoiding animal protein including meat and dairy. Is it my over-consumption of ice cream this hot summer? or maybe it’s the board exam review… my intelligence probably improved causing this gouty arthritis.
