SINCE NEW YEAR'S COMING...

Here are my goals for next year...

1. Cut down weeknight gimiks to cut down expenses.

2. Resign from work... I'm sure I'm the only one who could think of such things right now.

3. Study for the board exams... serious na talaga... pramis.

4. Reply to received text messages as soon as possible.

5. Find another Madagascar penguin for Jason... I can't understand why Sally and I love that little devil.

ITHACA

When you set out your journey to Ithaca,
pray that the road is long,
full of adventure, full of knowledge.
The Lestrygonians and the Cyclops,
the angry Poseidon - do not fear them:
You will never find such as these on your path
if your thoughts remain lofty, if a fine
emotion touches your spirit and your body.
The Lestrygonians and the Cyclops,
the fierce Poseidon you will never encounter,
if you do not carry them within your soul,
if your heart does not set them up before you.

Pray that the road is long.
That the summer mornings are many, when,
with such pleasure, with such joy
you will enter ports seen for the first time;
atop at Phoenician markets,
and purchase fine merchandise,
mother-of-pearl and coral, amber and ebony,
and sensual perfumes of all kinds,
as many sensual perfumes as you can;
visit many Egyptian cities,
to learn and learn from scholars.

Always keep Ithaca in your mind.
To arrive there is your ultimate goal.
But do not hurry the voyage at all.
It is better to let it last for many years;
and to anchor at the island when you are old,
rich with all you have gained on the way,
not expecting that Ithaca will offer you riches.

Ithaca has given you the beautiful voyage.
Without her you would never have set out on the road.
She has nothing more to give you.

And if you find her poor, Ithaca has not deceived you.
Wise as you have become, with so much experience,
you must already have understood what Ithacas mean.

- Constantine Cavafy (1863-1933)

RANTS AGAIN

Perhaps many of you are already sick of hearing me rant about my work. Please bear with me again. I really need an outlet.

Here are more reasons why I hate my work:

1. I hate the "tamad" and "comlaining" attitude of my officemates. I want to work in an office wherein giving your best is a normal thing.

2. I'm always descriminated,... due to my race and financial status..., my position as an admin architect... and for other indescribable reasons.

3. I'm not getting a new adventure anymore. I'm bored.

4. I don't like wearing a skirt while doing dirty jobs like searching for granite and floor tiles.

5. I hate the fact that I don't have a compact cubicle. I have to walk at some distance if i have to work on a computer and walk back to answer the phone and so forth. My materials are on the other end of the office... at the far far end. I have to have my shoosies repaired in like every 2 months due to excessive walking!

But here are the reasons why I'm staying right now:

1. It's so convenient, less than 2km away from home.

2. Compared to the other firms, the salary is kinda bearable, although sometimes delayed.

3. My bosses treat me well enough.
